What exactly is Bagasse?
Bagasse is a leftover of sugarcane harvesting that was previously discarded or burned. This plant fiber is now used for a variety of purposes, including fuel, paper, and tableware, resulting in lower pollution and energy usage. Environmentally conscious consumers are driving firms to adopt eco-friendly solutions, which is a developing trend.
One of the numerous advantages of bagasse products is that they biodegrade in 90 days, as opposed to the 400 years that plastic takes to breakdown. Changing from plastic disposable dinnerware to bagasse disposable tableware is a positive step toward reducing our carbon footprint.
Color and texture of bagasse
Sugarcane bagasse is fibrous, giving it a different texture than plastic counterparts. Although many products, such as plates and bowls, are smoothed out, bagasse dinnerware will feel slightly rough and akin to cardboard. Bagasse goods are often beige or light brown in hue, however they can also be bleached white.
Bagasse Longevity
Bagasse containers and tableware are equally as sturdy and long-lasting as plastic containers and tableware. Both hot and cold food can be served on plates and containers. Bagasse, in fact, can resist temperatures as high as 200 degrees Fahrenheit! They can also be microwaved and stored in the refrigerator.

Environmentally friendly items can get one or more of these certifications from third-party groups working to make the world a better place.
BPI Compostable – Issued by the Biodegradable Products Institute, they confirm that products meet the ASTM D6400 standard and specifications required to be compostable.
OK COMPOST (EN 13432)-Packaging and products with the OK compost label are guaranteed to decompose in a commercial composting facility. This holds true for all parts, inks, and additives. The harmonised EN 13432: 2000 standard serves as the only point of reference for the certification program.
